Commander’s Corner

The chill is in the air and that means fall is here. The kids had a great time at their party this year. Great costumes and a lot of energy. Thanks to the ladies and sons for helping out with the cookies and punch. I hope the adults have as much fun.
We are now collecting can food for our annual food drive. There are a lot of people around us that need a little help, especially around the holidays. Please give a little more then you usually would.
Starting in November, Our Saturday breakfasts will run from 8am-10:30am. I am sorry if this is an inconvenience to anyone.
Congrats to Clancy Carrel, our Career Center Supervisor. A little while ago we had a grade "F" on the center. Now we have a grade "A". It is all because Clancy cares a lot about our post and he is smoking all the competition. We took 2nd place in the whole state. Soon we will be #1. Please come on in and enroll in the Career Center.
We are still having great parties for our Buckeyes. Bring a dish to pass and cheer for your favorite team.
I am very proud of our Honor Guard. They serve Post 89 with great distinction. They are requested to perform all over the state and numerous functions. They have also conducted funeral ceremonies at several funerals. They are a tremendous bunch of Ladies and Gentlemen and you should be happy to have them at Post 89.
We will host the 12th District meeting on the 15th at 1:30pm. There is a lot of good information passed at these meetings. Congrats to Ted Mitchell for being appointed to Scholarship Chairman at the district and for his appointment to post 89 for Finance Officer.
On December 7th for Pearl Harbor Day, We are going to have a free lunch from noon to 2pm for ALL WWII veterans and immediate family. A small ceremony may follow the lunch. Our WWII may be here by then.
In closing, Post 89 is a great place to come and visit with old friends. We have great food and entertainment. We do need a few more bodies to volunteer once in a while. Please see me about that. We can teach you to make subs, or use the toaster. Please check the bulletin boards for up coming state events and check

Steak night returns Saturday, November 15th starting at 5:00pm. We will have a 12oz T-BONE, baked potato, salad, and cake. All for only $10. We will also have a band that night. New kitchen hours will be from noon-2pm for lunch and dinner 5pm-7pm Monday-Thursday. Our Wednesday night meatloaf and Thursday night Country fried steak seems to be a big hit.
